Colorist Dave Pickett Starts a New Year

Colorist Dave Pickett, after suffering a momentary lapse for wrist and elbow surgery to correct a nagging injury, has returned to Finish with a vengeance after missing only a month of service.  In the interim many of Finish clients had expressed disappointment that Dave wasn’t available and Finish was forced on more than one occasion to fly in top colorists from LA to cover for him.  But it was definitely the attitude that Dave has that was missed during these sessions, even though they were reported as very successful.

Dave is now back and his recovery has been both speedy and fairly miraculous.  Within two days of the surgery Dave had full movement in his right hand and was actually heard playing keyboards 10 days later.  Doctors report 100% success and recovery.

As this article goes to print, Dave is color correcting again with some loyal clients, some of whom were actually able to hold work in a desire to have Dave put his “look” on their pieces.  This is a tribute to the style, tenacity and eye that Dave can bring to any film.  And he’s proved this in the past working on award winning commercials and nationally televised documentaries and films at Riot and Company 3 in LA, Crawford Post in Atlanta and Retina in San Francisco.

Since joining Finish, Dave has completed work on numerous projects, both regional and national.  Among them are film transfers for Sylvania and production company Airstream, Pinnacle and editing company EditPod with agency Arnold Advertising, Subway for agency MMB, Days Inn for Decker Advertising,  Mass Lottery for agency Hill Holliday and Hasbro for production company Global Mechanic, just to name a few. He even managed to supervise assistant Tim Montgomery for a couple of “had to have” transfers during his gap in a tribute to their teamwork.

Dave reports that he used his downtime to work on the design of the new expanded film transfer suite at Finish. Along with this and his successful recovery, Dave is looking forward to continuing building his clientele both nationally and in Boston, along with servicing the clients he brought here after his arrival last spring.

At present we are happy to report a better than expected outlook for bookings this winter, and Dave and his clients can’t seem to wait for his new suite. Dave would personally like to thank all those who called and expressed concern for his speedy and successful recovery. And he looks forward to continuing the success he has had at Finish continuing with all the new upcoming and challenging projects.
