Dear Readers:

Welcome to the 2005 “Women’s Issue” issue of Imagine newsmagazine. I am honored once again to be serving as guest editor of this special annual issue devoted to showcasing New England area women working in film, television, and media arts. And while we never have enough space to include all the women we’d like to profile in a given year, my fellow writers and I trust that the group featured this year will once again inspire you with their personal histories and approaches to cinematic storytelling.

As always, this issue would not have happened without the hard work of the contributing writers. I want to thank all of them for the patience, persistence, and good humor they all exhibited in getting their stories in under a very tight editorial deadline. A personal thank-you on my end for Erin Trahan, Lorre Fritchy, Brent Skinner, and Bob Pushkar. And Imagine publisher Carol Patton must once again be recognized for her ongoing commitment to promoting New England’s production community.

And to Women in Film and Video/New England, the organization that started it all for so many of us. Here’s to celebrating the power of cinematic storytelling and the significance of women’s roles in telling those stories. I hope you’ll all make a point of seeking out the work of women writers, producers, and directors in the next year--women who choose to tell stories with humor, depth, true emotion and intelligence. Your heart and soul will thank you for it.

Enjoy.
