An IMAGINE event was held on January 14th, the Winter Jazz Party, designed to bring the Film & TV Industry together and to make sure that a copy of the magazine got into the hands of some all important new and renewing subscribers. On a very cold Tuesday evening attendance was hot.
Tom Kershaw, owner of the venue, opened up his new TK's Jazz Café in Faneuil Hall to a packed house of talented and creative IMAGINE supporters. Tom is a great friend of the industry as Chairman of the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as owner of the legendary CHEERS Pub, inspiration for the long running NBC television show.
The event began in spirited fashion thanks to the libations brought by Jay Harman and Matt Lambo of 888 Vodka, Cisco Brewers and Nantucket Vineyards, all imported from the Island of Nantucket. They also introduced their new rum, Hurricane, to the cheers of many who arrived early.
The atmosphere was enhanced by the sophisticated and upbeat jazz of the Mark Greel Trio. They were an amazing hit and filled the audience with their energy and verve. The night was capped with the prize drawing of a trip for two to Bermuda, with hotel, airfare and passes to the Bermuda International Film Festival (April 11-17). The prize was sponsored by the Bermuda Department of Tourism. Thomas MacDonald and Earlston T. Dill Jr. from Bermuda's Boston office along with Kelly MacFarland of the Boston Comedy and Movie Festival conducted the drawing. The prize was awarded to newly married Andrew Davis, an aspiring television producer.
Thanks to our Corporate Sponsors, Industry Sponsors and VIP Hosts who added a touch of class to the proceedings. A special thanks goes out to Corporate Sponsors: TK's Jazz Café, The Bermuda International Film Festival, Duncan Hall Managing Director, The Bermuda Department of Tourism, Triple Eight Vodka, Christy Scott Cashman of Fade In, Inc. and Kim Davis and Jan Davidson of the Boston Comedy and Movie Festival. Industry Sponsors included Karl Renwanz and the folks at Video Transfer, Don Packer and Finish Editorial, Brian Heller of Boston Camera Rental and Tom Sprague of National Boston.
The VIP Hosts in formal attire that evening were Richard DeAgazio, Dale Boch, Valerie Weiss and Rob Johnson, John Farrell, Paul Boghosian, Representative Brian Wallace, Andrea and Harvey Hubbell V and Dr. Keith Johnson. In keeping with the theme, now "everybody knows your name."
The event could not have been a success with out the loyal and tireless service of Brandon Granger, who flew in from his busy political consulting schedule in Washington, D.C., Maria Makredes, an attorney and writer, and Paula Kouletsis, a producer, all close friends of Imagine who handled the task of registering our guests for their subscription and chance for the prize.
