continue the excellent work that Ann Marie brought
to the foundation over the past 14 years," says Llew
Smith, President of the Board of Directors for the
Boston Film and Video Foundation. "Bob brings a great
deal of professionalism, a mature vision, and a passion
for independent media. There is no question that he
will be a central asset to the foundation as we continue
the work of deepening our support for Boston 's film
making community and the public that supports it."
"I am thrilled to be joining the
BF/VF at such an exciting time in its long history,"
said Bob Glover, Executive Director of the BF/VF.
"The BF/VF was founded 26 years ago to provide filmmakers
with access to the tools needed to craft their films.
Today we continue to support the independent film
community with discount rates at Boston's best equipment
rental houses, innovative educational programs, and
the critically acclaimed, New England Film Festival."
Well know to most Imagine readers
and viewers, The Boston Film/Video Foundation (BF/VF)
is a regional arts center whose mission is to encourage
and facilitate access to and understanding of film,
video and electronic media as a means of creative
expression. In support of this mission, BF/VF offers
programs in education, equipment access, exhibition,
financial, and technical assistance, and promotes
artistic endeavors in individual and community empowerment
through the use of media.
BF/VF was founded in 1976 to provide
an organizational support system to artists for the
understanding and creation of independent film video;
offering a means to view and discuss works being created
in the field, and providing a network for artists
to pool equipment and human resources. The same year,
BF/VF was recognized by the National Endowment for
the Arts as the leading regional media arts center
serving New England. Today BF/VF's membership numbers
approximately 1,000 members.
