Roger Corman is the subject of our cover story. He attempted
to break into films by the tried and trusted method of working
as a messenger for 20th-Centry Fox, eventually rising to the
position of story analyst. By the time of his official retirement
in 1971 he had directed dozens of films, typically shot fast
on the leftover sets from other, larger productions. Now an
icon, Carl Hansen interviewed Roger Corman and brings us up
to date including his new effort being shot this month in
